The Schuylkill Watershed Congress is an annual gathering of citizens interested in understanding, protecting and restoring local watersheds and streams. This event features a diverse program with concurrent and poster sessions covering a broad range of watershed topics.
 
Register by Friday, February 26th, 2010, to qualify for the $40 Early Registration Fee. After February 26th, the Registration Fee increases to $50 per person. Registration fees cover participation in Saturday’s program, Saturday morning’s hospitality and lunch.
 
The 2010 Keynote Presentation offers a panel discussion titled "How to Challenge a Stormwater Permit and Win: A Look at the Crum Creek Neighbors Decision." Michele Adams (Meliora Environmental Design), James A. Schmid, Ph. D. (Schmid & Company, Inc., Consulting Ecologists), and John Wilmer (Environmental Attorney), will tell the story behind the recent successful legal challenge to a stormwater permit given to a developer in an Exceptional Value designated watershed in Delaware County.

3rd Annual Philly Spring Clean Up

Join us and participate in the 3rd Annual Philly Spring Cleanup which will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2010. “Keep Up the Sweep Up” will be the focus of this year’s cleanup,  which will be part of a long term integrated effort not to just clean up litter but to prevent it from plaguing our streets, parks and recreation centers. Efforts are already underway to develop best practices for litter prevention. The City has already begun implementing litter prevention strategies including investing in Big Belly Solar Powered trash cans.  This investment has significantly reduced litter in high pedestrian areas around Center City. This year we are expanding this initiative to include commercial corridors outside Center City.

A partnership of Friends of the Manayunk Canal, Schuylkill Project, PWD, Friends of the Ivy Ridge Trail & Fairmount Park has been formed to maximize volunteer efforts to enhance our trail systems and trail connections. Don't miss out on this event!

Last year the Cleanup focused on removing litter and debris off of our streets, parks and recreation centers. Over 21,000 volunteers helped remove over 3.25 million pounds of trash from our City.

Do enjoy biking, running, or fishing in the City's parks?  If so, mark your calendars! Our spring Love Your Park event- formerly known as Fairmount Park Day - will be taking place throughout the city from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, May 8th.

In just a few short hours, this rain-or-shine event will help keep Fairmount Park clean and green for generations to come. From Pennypack Park in the Northeast to Morris Park in West Philadelphia, volunteers will battle invasive weeds & vines, paint benches, plant trees and pick up trash, beautifying the public park spaces we all know and love so well.

Friends of the Manayunk Canal & the Schuylkill Project are partnering with Fairmount Park, Philadelphia Cares, Philadelphia Green and Department of Recreation to clean up graffiti, remove trash, refill doggie stations, remove invasives, weed and mulch along the Manayunk Canal Towpath.  We want to maximize volunteer efforts to enhance our trail systems and trail connections. Don't miss out on this event!
